Hi everyone!
I am a producer at a company called Icon Films, based in England. We’re currently producing a new 6-part TV show for the Travel Channel with biologist Pat Spain. In each episode Pat will investigate a specific locally-held or historic legend. Through a combination of expert advice from contributors, scientific and historical research on the ground, and input from local residents, Pat will re-examine the origins of these stories, hoping to shed new light on how and why they evolved in the process.
We are investigating historical accounts of vampires in New England (of which, there are many!) and would love to include first hand accounts of sanguinarians and Psy Vampires, particularly ones that are local to the Boston/New England area.
We want to bring the story up to the present day and to show how present day vampires differ from people who were accused of it, in the past.
We are hoping to include as many people as possible, who can shed light on what it is like to live as a vampire now. I appreciate that a lot of people crave anonymity but I am really hoping that we can find some willing participants. We would really like some insight into your lives!
I wanted to stress one point regarding anonymity and the protection of identity that we completely understand is a concern of many people. We are very much aware that, even with the best intentions, filmmakers can expose individuals to public scrutiny, and in this day and age people are worried about the negative impacts this could have. With that in mind, I wanted to stress that we would be happy to conceal contributors faces when on camera and use false names. We are not in the business of 'poking fun' at individuals and people's identities are not what we're looking to document. What we really want to do is interview members of this community and hear first-hand what that community and culture represents and what it means to be a Psy or Sang Vampire.
Ideally, however, we would not obscure voices as well as we want to maintain credibility and obscuring both faces and voices could open us to the charge of using actors.
With that in mind, I wanted to issue a call for both Psy and Sang vampires who might be happy to be interviewed. Our dates are the 5th, 6th and 7th of January 2018, and as it stands we will be based in Boston, MA. This is, however, open to change and we could very easily film on the East Coast or the Mid-West.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about the show, you can reach me via email at edmund.phillips@iconfilms.co.uk
I really hope to talk to some of you guys very soon!
Best wishes,
Ed
