Energy Manipulation Article
Disclaimer: Remember that time is not important here, if you cannot exercise patience enough to focus and read this article as well as comprehend what it says, then you most likely won’t have the ability to focus your mind enough to practice what you read. Though, if you’re already into psychic practices, you already know all this stuff and you can move on.
Note: Most of you that are vampires, you can most likely skip this article because chances are, you’ve already figured all this stuff out by now. Just wrote this since we will also have some curious individuals with no previous psychic experiences. Then again, never hurts to review. =P
That said, you do not have to read it all at once, it is made in sections to be more easily understood for those who are not entirely familiar with psychic abilities yet. I will try to explain in as much detail as I can how to use these. If you read something that didn’t make sense, please read it again thoroughly and understand that some of this won’t make sense until you practice and actually experience it fully yourself. Feel free to ask for more tips or directions that may have been left out, but remember that if you don’t practice, you will not progress.
This article will cover many aspects of energy manipulation in general, so we’ll start with commonly used terms and beliefs, to get rid of some confusion. To gain the full benefit of it, I suggest remaining as relaxed and focused as you read. Later on I will provide some meditation methods to practice if you need.
Clarification: First, I’d like to point out the most common used terms associated with energy manipulation. Most you’ll probably see are a lot of words with “kinesis” at the end (generally, all revolving around the umbrella term, “psychokinesis”) and a some people refer to this as “fluff”, which just kind of adds to the conflict and confusion, rather than resolving it, so let’s avoid those.
Examples: To show some common terms used.
Telekinesis = Ability to move objects with your mind. Pyrokinesis = Ability to manipulate fire. Chronokinesis = Manipulation of time. Umbrakinesis = Control over the dark and shadows, etc.
Many also like to think that magick is a lot different from these abilities of the mind/psychic abilities/energy manipulation, but the only differences I see in practices of magic are the methods or rituals used to concentrate their energies and direct their influence. But at the root, for the sake of simplicity, we will just refer to these as forms of energy manipulation or psychic abilities. Now, I respect origins, but psi, chi, qi, and ki or whatever else you want to label it are all basically the same things in nature, energy.
Note: If you want to know more about magick, some very good articles I’ve read can be found here: vsociety.net/wiki/Magick_articles
As an explanatory note, because there are a lot of inaccurate associations with these abilities and certain shows and animated series, we won’t refer to them as “powers” or “bending” here.
‘Why energy manipulation?’ you might ask. Because, at the base of all things, everything, and everyone are constructed of some form of conscious energy (I will go into more detail about this later in the article). Some may even disagree with the word “manipulation” as well, because it implies that you are controlling these things separate of yourself. I honestly don’t care what you call it, but again, I’m trying to keep it simple while showing some views of others’ at the same time.
But, as I understand it, energy manipulation just covers working with diverse energies (such as fire energy, mental energy, time energy, emotional energy, earth energy, etc.), whether it be connecting with, drawing from, projecting, programming, shaping, or moving energy in general. You must be aware of it in some way, whether you simply think, feel, or see it.
To keep from further complicating things, I will leave belief and religion out of this and leave those for you to decide upon. And, in many cases, because of a lot of mental programming through life, you may have to overcome a few mental barriers as you move on. Meditation can be helpful with this, though is not necessary. I will only offer what I have experienced, to try and help further your understanding.
What do you need to work with these abilities? Build understandings of what you’re doing, establish a connection, maintain focus and stay patient, and use will to influence it. Keep practicing and you shall succeed over time.
Now, let’s get onto a couple of common sayings.
“Where thoughts go, energy will flow.”
This is one of the most useful phrases I’ve encountered, but it is more accurate to substitute “thoughts” with awareness, or focus.
Another useful saying I’ve come across, originates from Taoist beliefs.
“Let your mind flow like water, reflect like a mirror, and respond like an echo.”
When you can manage this, your energy will follow effortlessly.
“What is visualization?”
Despite what many seem to think, it is not the same as just imagining something. Much more focus and effort is put into the visualization process, which is not just limited to sight alone, but encompasses a wide range of all the senses. It also gives you an overall greater perspective of your intentions and the object or energies you wish to establish a connection with.
Example: Take into account how an animal stalks its pray. In this case, it will be a cat chasing a fly in your house. To succeed in catching the fly, the cat must first be aware of its surroundings and be in-tune with the actions of the fly.
One must be aware of their own limitations in order to exceed them and work with what they’ve got. In other words, the cat cannot fly or waste too much energy wildly jumping at it around the room, it has learned this through experience and following instinct. It must practice self-control. The cat’s best bet is to focus its senses, slow down, and suppress its presence. Then, its mind will be more in-tune with its efforts once it’s focused.
What other characteristics help this cat achieve their goal? They are motivated and determined to accomplish something specific. They are a bit curious to the nature of the fly they focus on. The cat displays patience and uses all of its senses and focus to give it a distinct advantage in the situation.
I brought this example up to stress that the visualization process is not just sight related. The cat not only has to watch its target (if it only uses this sense, it will lose sight eventually and it will be hard to find again just off sight), but must also focus in on the sounds of the buzzing fly, as it gets closer or further away and how fast it moves or when it changes direction. On top of this, you must also be able to use your senses to where you can feel every subtle change and react appropriately. This is a key principle in developing psychic abilities, as well as keeping your mind open and clear. Many people may see some progress and freak out about it or get over confident, or even lose confidence when they see no progress.
All senses are an extension of touch, whether your ears are picking up on vibrations and converting them to sound, or your eyes receive what it perceives to be different wavelengths of light to form an image. And what you’re touching is simply energy in different forms.
From this, you can easily gather how E.S.P. (extra sensory perception) works. Basically, all you’re doing is extending your energetic awareness through the senses beyond bodily limits. Whether you’re hearing/seeing/feeling from long distances or into the future. Energy is only limited by its conscious programming, not by the dimensions of time or space. I won’t go further into illusions and consciousness here. Think of it as if you were temporarily without sight, and your other senses had to compensate.
Note: I understand there are more than three senses, but I felt I should mainly refer to the most commonly used of them. This is also why sensory deprivation is often used, to diminish these senses and focus them more on your subconscious mind.
Just like learning any new skill in life, it’s easiest to take a step at a time, find your own pace and work with it. The more you practice, the more you can experience, understand, and progress. Though some progress faster than others, you can accomplish just about anything you train your mind to. But you must first learn to walk before you run.
Focus - If you have trouble with focus, that’s alright, it’s good that you realized the limit sooner to overcome it. Everyone has attention problems to some degree though, don’t use it as an excuse, that will only hold you back with anything you try to pursue.
Intro: From here, let’s get more into what you can do with energy. But first, let me point out that while it may seem cool, not everything you see in hollywood movies is realistic (in fact a very small percentage is actually inspired by truth) though there is some truth in it. So please, don’t expect to start into this by tossing people around with your mind, teleporting, or controlling all the elements. That said, there are so many possibilities of what you can do with energy, it’s not really something you master.
At the base of all things in this world, beyond what you may see, every object and creature is constructed of layers of conscious energy. And everything you put effort into, or anything, person/creature, or environment you come into contact with, to some degree or another will retain a residual imprint of your own energies, and vice versa. Even thoughts, emotions, dreams, and actions can store and mix with these energies in some form. There are many diverse ways of working with energy; you can sense, draw, store, project, condense, flare, suppress, shape, program, convert, and direct it by will, with a little bit of focus. We will go into more practices for these a little later.
Have you ever focused solely on your movements and how they work? If not, it would be a very useful realization and first step to isolate a single movement to better understand the composite flow of the motion. Intuition and observation are key tools to faster progression.
First exercise: Relax your body to a point void of tension and calm your mind (don’t think too much) to get rid of distraction and help you focus. Direct your focus to one arm (just choose one you feel is relaxed and comfortable, or your dominant arm, doesn’t matter). If it helps you understand the full concept better, you can visualize which way you will move it. Now, close your eyes and move your arm, and as you do, pay close attention to how you feel the movement carry through. You may not have realized it, but you just now performed a feat of your own mind-over-matter abilities in a simple task that you carry out everyday, this applies to any movement or effort you may exert.
So, what did you just do? Let’s break it down into two common explanations. In terms of science, chemical reactions occur and stimulate the brain to send electrical impulses or “signals” to a certain area in the body where the nerves and muscles react with reflexive movement.
Now, my explanation is that you used conscious energy to move your arm. In more precise detail, your conscious mind and body are connected in the same network of energy, that can be influenced by will. through will, your conscious mind sent energy to a body part, with a programmed task or tasks to perform. It responds by moving fluidly in the directions you will it to.
Now, I will outline basic steps for practicing just about any ability you would want to learn. Thanks to those who are remaining patient and keeping an open mind.
Basically, it’s just these steps:
1. Research and observance.
2. Patience and focus.
3. Trial-and-error practice.
4. Progression.
5. Come up with your own methods or set of steps to go by.
6. Practice some more.
Although, eventually it will just become:
1. Practice.
2. Progress.
I can’t stress enough the importance of focus and patience though.
The key to focus is quite simple, it just requires you to narrow your distractions down to a single point of interest or a select group. Meditation can also help you achieve this, you don’t need pills to focus your mind. All you have to do is clear your mind and center your awareness. This is easiest to do when you stop thinking about the past or future, and move your awareness to the present or here-and-now. Think of when you’re doing something that takes you into a trance-like state, like when you’re writing, your mind may wander from time to time, but to get any progress, you have to keep your focus on what you’re doing.
A lot of people tend to lose focus here, and that’s usually because they forget to maintain a steady breathing pattern. If this happens or you get a headache or too stiff or something, remember to breathe and not to be so tense. Remember what Mr. Miyagi says: “When you feel life out of focus…always return to basic of life. Breathing.”
When you center your awareness, you’re eliminating many distractions and connecting to a more energetically sensitive aspect of yourself. This is where time stops being a factor and where you are most aligned with your sense of feel. In this state you are most connected with your situation and surroundings. You don’t have to keep your eyes wide open, you can blink, or even close them if you want while you’re in this higher conscious state of mind. Animals, being more openly connected to the subconscious also displace this greater sensitivity to their surroundings and often showcase their innate empathic abilities.
Meditation - Can be as simple as just breathing, but is just focusing or reflecting on one thing, or goal. It is not necessary for everyone, but helpful to many, especially when beginning. You don’t have to meditate 24/7 or for extremely long periods of time (though this can help in the process of searching and knowing yourself). I will not recommend it only for every time you may feel upset or out of the norm, because as far as I’m concerned, those things help you grow and are part of your overall experiences. It’s something you use in between those experiences to better appreciate and reflect upon the many shifts that you go through.
Meditation can be used through many different methods as a controllable means to orchestrate and noticeably sharpen senses and overall ability. Net, I will go over a few methods that you can practice at anytime. It is often used to establish connections, alter states of mind, reflect and to seek personal insights, and reliving stress. Is also a very useful when trying to detach from barriers and limitations.
Yogi Complete Breathe – This is pretty simple, just a repetitive rhythmic breathing technique. Sit with a straightened spine, where you’re comfortable with breathing through your nose. Start by breathing in through your stomach to fill it with air, then let it simultaneously begin to fill around your diaphragm or what some call the solar plexus (bellow where ribcage comes together) and then up to fill the to the top of your lungs. Once you’ve fully inhaled, you want to breathe out the same way, but in opposite order. Breathe in for either 6, 8, or 10 seconds (recommended to start with 6 to get used to the pattern and move on when comfortable with that) and breathe out for half the time; so either 3, 4, or 5 seconds you exhale.
You will start to feel a tingling throughout your body, this is normal. It means you’re more aware of the feeling of energy in and around your body. It’s good to do this for about twenty to thirty minutes, but I’ve gone as long as three hours myself. Meditation can consist of many techniques and different senses and visuals, really anything you can come up with. A few others are void, light-body, and third-eye meditations.
Try these:
1. Inhale through your nose from the diaphragm, fill your stomach by directing your breath there for two seconds, now for another two seconds bring it up to fill the mid-section between your stomach and lungs, then for the last two seconds bring it up to fill the lungs as the other two parts are filled with air. Then exhale out from the lungs through your nose for one second, then from the middle one second, and then from the stomach for another. Then repeat. It may take a few breaths to get it to the correct rhythm. You should have set some kind of goal prior to this.
2. You can also use reverse breathing, or start with this if you want. This is basically as you used to breathe in and out as a child. Rather than through the lungs directly, just breathe through the stomach. Just try it now, draw a deep breath down to your stomach, hold it, and exhale slowly. You should have set some kind of goal prior to this.
3. And, for this third, we’ll focus more on the overall rhythm of the body as one. I find this meditation most effective when coupled with music that you are comfortable with (for me, the genre is metal). Calm yourself and release any tension of the body. If it helps you to do this, focus on one area at a time and tighten your muscles in that area for a few seconds, then loosen the tension and move to the next area. Breath deep breaths however you are comfortable with, just make the breaths steady. And start to pay attention to the internal beat of your body. Any thoughts or feelings that may surface, feel them as ripples in the water. Your breathing is the waves. The heart will start to align with your breathing once you’re calm. Breathe deeper. Focus in on the flow of the blood through your veins, outward and inward with the waves of your heart pulsing steady. Feel the energy flowing through you as a whole. Breathe in and feel it condense. Breathe out and feel it spread like waves overtaking the beach. Now let it immerse you and spread out to your surroundings. Feel the connection with all your senses as one. As you inhale again, feel the energy now external, coming back in to condense around your body. Let the energy of all within you and that surrounds sync in unison. If you do it right, you might actually begin to see and feel the music through the air. You should have set some kind of goal prior to this.
Alright, now if you didn’t feel the energy from the first exercise involving focused movement or from meditation, chances are you didn’t know what you were looking for and dismissed it, or you didn’t focus long enough (unless you just haven’t be doing the exercises =P) When working with energy directly, the feelings can vary from sensations of heat, cold, numbness, breezes, magnetic pushing/pulling, and tingling. The most common seems to be tingling, so to replicate this, simply rub your hands together and pull them apart, or run a finger up your forearm slowly. Though the feeling when you experience it later will not be from direct contact like this, but simply by your will to direct the energy.
Law of Attraction (LOA) – States that like energies attract.
In other words, your thoughts and desires can and often do manifest into reality, usually in an indirect way, unless you can learn how to work with it. For example, you think about someone you haven’t heard from in a while and go out to the store and run into that person. Or you start thinking about something or maybe a specific song, and turn on the radio and hear it. There’s only so much you can attribute to coincidence. The LoA is also akin to the before mentioned phrase, “Where thought goes, energy flows,” and in many situations seems to attest to the unseen bonds we all share.
Something to keep in mind: “Patience is a virtue.” Pretty self-explanatory, but patience will take you a long way in developing your control and overall understandings.
Connection – I use this term a lot throughout the article. This simply represents a shared bond involving more than one conscious energy.
Now, it is also helpful to realize that you are not just in the physical plane, but simultaneously also on the Astral realm. You, everything, and everyone in this world is mirrored in energetic forms in the Astral. When you affect someone’s energy body in Astral, as well as the energy of other objects, it affects them physically, but not as strongly as you perceive it in the Astral plane. You mentally cross into this unknowingly every night before you cross over into your dreams. The Astral is like a void where your thoughts, emotions, and intentions are all amplified, and not limited to space or time. I’ll provide some astral projection techniques in later tutorials. But if you want some decent articles now that would probably explain it better than I would, I’d suggest astralvoyage.com
Alright, now some fun stuff. Remember how I said that everything, even writing can hold energy and thoughts in some form? Well, I’m going to ask you to scan my next questions and see if you can pick up what they were saying. So, focus on my consciousness, on my energy, and try to feel what it is. Don’t be discouraged. If you don’t succeed, you can try again later. Try to see them visually in your mind. Don’t post a reply with your answers, send your answers to me through private message. If you get them all right, your username will be posted beneath the list.
a) I’m thinking of a number between 1 and 10, can you guess what it is?
b) If you thought that was too easy, now I’m thinking of a number between 1 and 100. What is it?
c) Now, I’m thinking of a specific shape and colour. I’m not saying which numbers and colors they are between. What are they?
d) Alright, now, I’m focusing on a specific emotion. Which emotion is it?
e) I’m thinking of a word. What is the word?
f) And now I’m thinking of two words. What are they?
g) I'm looking at one of the smiley emotes above. Which one?
h) Now I'm thinking of a short sentence. What is it?
Now, time for another fun Taoist saying: “Wei Wu Wei.”
Which basically means, “Do, without doing.” This is a great representation of how programming and manifestation are brought into the physical by means of the LoA.
In any conscious being, their energy is programmed and automated by a set network involving the conscious and subconscious minds. Everything from your characteristics to breathing pattern are determined by this programming, which can be re-networked and directed to an extent.
Programming – I’m not talking about software and computers, but it’s a very similar concept. Programming is just giving energy consciousness that is set up to perform certain tasks (such as maintaining its form,, for how long, its properties, and any other desired specifics you can think of). Just concentrate on the construct (energy that has been programmed) in detail, focus on giving it instructions (however you choose to connect with energy), and play with it a bit to work out any possible loopholes or mistakes in its construction and make it better able to fulfil the goals you want it to. It can be a bit of trial and error, but a fun process nonetheless. The point of programming though is to allow your energy to operate independently, without having to wait for you to constantly instruct it what to do. It can also be more efficient than directly using your own energy. Most commonly they are used as personal shields. All you’re basically doing is pre-building instructions into the overall design, but unlike how you construct most things, you’re simply molding it with your mind and sending instructions by will.
Energy ball: Time for another exercise, very simple, just to help you a little more with feeling energy. Cup your hands as if you’re holding a ball between them centered in front of you. Breathe and focus on them, focus on energy flowing through a path through your body, and drawing through your arms and hands to meet at a small point between your hands. It slowly grows. If it helps, visualize a shell, like a you’re holding a crystal ball between your hands, and it’s filling up with energy in smoke form of whatever colour you think of. This is just another tool to help your mind focus and direct the energy. You can also draw in more energy from objects or even from the air around you to put into it. If you don’t feel it, move your hands a little closer until you do. Now, once you feel it, move your hands further apart as you breathe in deep as you visualize and feel the ball getting bigger between your hands, and push them closer together again as you breathe out and condense the ball between your hands. That’s really all there is to it.
Alright, last phrase for now, and one of the most important I’ve come across. This one is Greek in origin and quite simple: “Know Thyself”
Once you can truly understand and accept yourself as you are, you will see how easy and important it is to understand and connect with others.
Moving on, and nearing the end of this article, I’ll explain a little more how to use telekinesis, or at least some methods and see what works for you, then I’ll give you some exercises to practice.
Well, as a recap on all this, everything and everyone is made up of energy. Meaning, everything and everyone are connected at some level. So, it’s just a matter of finding that connection and strengthening it through focus of your thought waves, and willpower. I know, it sounds easy, but you’ll most likely need some practice until you figure out how exactly it works and feels for you.
Now, some like to visualize their thought energy as waves pushing the object, some like to see it that they are working on the molecular level and infusing their thoughts with the molecules of an object, and others, like myself, just like to visualize and feel it moving and will it to, and it does (I also use the void technique for this). It’s just a matter of finding what works for you with practice. My own experience with telekinesis is limited though, the best I’ve done is move my bedroom door on its hinges back and forth a little bit and roll pens or spin energy wheels. Just don’t give up if it doesn’t work at first try.
Exercises:
1. Energy wheel – First things first, you have to make this yourself. I’ve heard you can buy them too, but that’s not necessary. Now, get a piece of paper, and cut out a small square, two inches by two inches. Fold it in half so you have a rectangle, then open and fold the other side in half, don’t open it fully, the creases are important for this exercise. Now, take something with a tip, it can be a needle, a tack, a nail, or a piece of lead from a mechanical pencil for all I care. Then find something soft that you can put it through, like a soft piece of clay, or a wide eraser. Personally, I took a wide eraser, poked a small hole through the center and put in a piece of lead sticking up straight. You don’t really need the base (eraser) of it if you have a tack. Now, balance the paper wheel centered over the tack, needle, or whatever you used and you have an energy wheel. The goal is simple, spin the wheel. To keep it from being you just breathing on it and accidentally moving that way, I suggest you cover it with a clear container, glass or plastic works.
2. Two simple steps to this exercise. Take a quarter, a sheet of paper, and a pen or pencil. Pick a side you want it to land on, and flip the quarter 100 times, trying to influence it to land on the side you picked more than the other side. Write down your results. Now, if you have one, take a single die of a set of dice. After making sure it is properly weighted, pick any number you want, and try to do the same as with the quarter. Rolling it 100 times make the test more accurate, giving more chance to get rid of error. Every time you roll it, try to influence it to land on the number you picked more than any of the others. Record your results just as you did before.
3. Thirdly is bending a candle flame. Find a candle, and something to light it with. Light it, and sit far enough back from it that your breathing won’t disturb the flame. Make sure there are no fans on, or drafts, or anything that would flicker the flame. Stare at the flame and focus on it bending to one side. If you want, you can try visualizing your energy meshing with that of the flame on the molecular level so that the energy of your mind is one with the flame and it will bend.
4. You can practice this while you’re just waiting for something or in class or something. Take a two inch piece square piece of paper. Take your small piece of paper and fold all corners in to the center. Crease the paper and allow the corners to pop back up so you have a flat paper on the table and four tabs sticking up that you can mentally push against.
5. And, lastly, the pen roll. If the pen has a cap, take it off, try to make sure the pen is as round as possible (you can also do this with a ball). Make sure you are practicing this on a flat surface. Also, make sure you won’t accidentally bump into table. Once you’ve gotten good at rolling this pen, you can use one, or a pencil with flat sides to add extra resistance and make the exercise more difficult. Sit comfortably with a table in front of you at a comfortable height. At the start you will probably have to put a lot more effort into it. Don’t lose patience, and don’t take small successes for granted. Even if the pen just shakes, that’s progress.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have here, and I'll try to answer back, or create new articles for them.

As an explanatory note, because there are a lot of inaccurate associations with these abilities and certain shows and animated series, we won’t refer to them as “powers” or “bending” here.
‘Why energy manipulation?’ you might ask. Much more focus and effort is put into the visualization process, which is not just limited to sight alone, but encompasses a wide range of all the senses.
